We are using SS316L material for the Spent Caustic Tank and the plant is under construction. Your query does not specify the MOC - can you give details?

hello normaly SS316 is not suitable for the caustic streams. spent caustic contains mercaptan and disulfide. temparature is ambient.

Your corrosion diagnostic is correct. A way to prevent it is to paint the inner roof surface of the tank where gas condensation occurs. Contact your local paint advisers they will help you on the choice of the best painting system for your application. Hope it helps Good luck Luis Marques
