It has been experienced and established that in Carbamate Service in Urea Production SS weldment should be as free as possible from weld ferrite no. As this ferrite gets preferentially attacked by carbamate and can lead to failures. Q1. Why actually carbamate attcks ferrite like this ? Q2. Is there any other chemistry/ chemical service which has result of this type of preferentlal attack on SS ferrite no. ? Q3. It is also told that in cryogenic service also ferrite is not advisable. why ?
