Vacuum box testing is carried out to check the tank bottom plate fillet weld.Any other testing (Pneumatic test)is being developed in lieu of VB Testing(time consuming)other than regular NDT. regards,

This is a valid question and also has solution alternates as per API 650. Para 6.6.1.1. gives alternate to VB with a Suitable Tracer Gas and compatible detector system as per detail procedure. Pl. refer API 650. Time management depnds upon detector numbers. regards

Also you can execute Pneumatic testing of entire bottom plate which is very fast as per API Guide to the Inspection of refinery Eqpt. Chapter XIII Clause 1304.046
