dear Experts, we used to enumerate presence of SRB & GnAB in oil field injection water or in general by the term MPN ( most probable number ) . Just like to have some idea about best/ various practises for the threshold limits for MPN (SRB, GnAB, GAB) in oil filed Injection water. Pl. share your experince and values. I need urgent shares regards

Debasis Monitoring of microbial corrosion is always difficult because of the sessile nature of bacteria and lack of meaningful correlation between bacteria counts and bacterial activity. There are two approaches generally speaking. First is to start with treating bactericide in conjunction with regular scraping after commissioning. The second is to monitor the microbial corrosion and implementation of treatment schemes. I have read in some published papers in NACE conferences and in Microbiological corrosion conferences. I do not remember full details. One user :Aramco uses a system: l) cell counts in water (SRB), general aerobic bacteria (OAB) (2) metal surface examination, (3) scraping solids analysis, (4) water quality analysis, and (5) evaluation of current bactericide treatment. Depending on the sampling nature and types of problems encountered different techniques are employed by Aramco. Aramco would have done several experiments and field trials to establish the correct system for monitoring SRB/OAB. Details of the success or failure of the microbial corrosion treatment may vary from Aramco with that of other oil field injection water chemistry treatments in the same country or nearby oil field injection by some other user. Such methods and the success or failure of the same will not be given to other users (usually) unless published in leading journals. Oil field injection water chemistry is too complicated. It is difficult to compare the results of one user with that of other users. For general information you may read C.C. Nathan's book on Oil field injection water chemistry. Hope this helps you C.V.Srinivasan Nishi Engineers Pvt Ltd India Jan 7, 2010 E mail: nishi@vsnl.com dear Experts, >we used to enumerate presence of SRB & GnAB in oil field >injection water or in general by the term MPN ( most >probable number ) .
