Dear Sir: The resistance of 301SS with formic should be similar to that of 304SS. There is a larger volume of data regarding 304SS than 301SS. Understand that if you are interested in discussion forum responses to corrosion rate inquiries, you need to state the acid % and temperature. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

Mr. Hendrix, The appliacation I have is that it's concentrated formic acid at room temperature. The formic acid is extremely agrresive and the standard spring, 301 SS has a short life. What I am interested in is any info you might have regarding ELGILOY springs with formic acid. Thanks again, Ms. A Tran.

Ms. Tran: We do not have any in house corrosion rate data regarding formic acis vs. Elgiloy. However, we do have the capability to conduct corrosion coupon tests to develop the needed data, if you are interested. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

Mr. Hendrix, We were able to find some useful information from a company named Shamban which had some data on Elgiloy VS Formic Acid. Thank you very much for your time. Sincerely, Ms. Tran
