I am designing a closed loop piping system for DI water typically at 90C and am considering stainless steel as the pipe material. Where should I focus my concerns as far as potential failure of the system and or ball park life expectancy for the system. Limiting factors of the system for life/failure? What type of corrosion could potentially be faced here? Or is it not even an issue? General Parameters: 1/2 in tubing SS (alloy to be determined- general recommendations?) DI Water (resistivity to be determined) Flow Rate %7E 12liter/min Temp ranging from 5-90C

Steve: Se our response to your similar post in our Materials Selection Discussion Forum. Type 304LSS should be suitable for typical DI water service. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

Steve, DI water systems are all custom designed.....each is different in some subtle way from any other You really cannot ask questions about custom designed systems such as "potential failure of the system and/or ball park life expectancy for the system" unless you have something identical to compare it against. This engineering forum is about material selection, performance and sharing experience. You may find a better response on www.eng-tips.com MJC
