I am involved in designing a sea water desalination system for which i would like to know the suitable material of construction for my raw water pumping. I have mixed opinions on both Nickel aluminium bronze and duplex SS? Could any one of you write me the advantage and disadvantages of both the above said materials?? Regards-Panneer

Panneer: Nickel-aluminum bronze is a common seawater application alloy, especially for pumps and pump impellers. Duplex SS may also be suitable, however, its corrosion resistance in stagnent seawater may not be adequate. Hope this helps! David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

Thanks Mr.David. But its said that Bronze is a softer material and thus Ni-AL- Br is more susceptible to corrosion than duplex. how about Valves used for sea water applications? Regards, M.Panneer

Thanks Mr.Nabhan. So for pumps used for seawater applications, its better to go with Ni-Al-Br rather than Duplex MOC?? How abt the capital prices of both these MOC's? Regards, M.Panneer India Mob:91-9840568467
