The corrosion product form a cooling channel of a cracked 420 SS mould was analysed by EDX and only S and Ca elements (with the exception of Fe,Si,Cr,and Mn -typical in steel) were detected. Could S or Ca, without Cl promote stress corrosion cracking. Thanks!
