Dear All, We like to hydrotest some tank with the water quality out of tolerance (about 100 - 200 ppm of chloride) when the normal procedure said 25-30 ppm of chloride. The other problem, we like to store that water in one of our biggest tank for more than one week to consider the availability of water it self. This water will be used for hydrotest of the other ones after completion of fabrication. Please advise me if any problem shall be avoided due to corrosion problem, regarding to ppm of chloride and microbiological attack? These API 650's Tank datas are variatif, material : A36 or A 573 and Stainless Steel. Volume up to 60,000 cubic meter. Type : Open top floating roof and Fix roof with internal floating roof. We have to say thanks for any reply and advise first. warm regards, edf:)

Dear Sir: Typically, hydrotest water specification call for no more than %7E50 ppm chlorides in SS tanks. You state that you want to store the water in one tank for more than one week and are interested if this will be a problem. However, you don't state how much longer than one week you want to store the water and whether the tank is a carbon steel or a stainless steel tank. You should minimize the amount of time that hydrotest water is stored in a stainless steel tank. You also may want to conduct pre-hydro tests for MIC to see if you have a potential MIC corrosion issue before storing the water. David Hendrix The Hendrix Group Inc.

Dear Mr. Hendrix, I estimate that schedule of tank fabrication delayed will not more than 20 days. I will not store that water on SS tank, but the biggest CS tank. But however there is a good idea to do "pre-hydrotest" for some pieces (samples) of each kind of material in test water. Thanks. edf
