Good Morning, Some little time ago I had possession of a research paper that dealt with the “Adverse Effects” on “Load Bearing Welds” caused by prolonged use of cleaning fluids which contain “Muriatic Acid”. For example, certain equipment (Skips carrying up to 5 tonne) used by cranes to elevate/transport cement and concrete are regularly cleaned inside and out with various “Concrete Cleaners”. Many of these cleaners contain Hydrochloric Acid and in some cases small quantities of Sulphuric Acid and from my understanding, both of these acids when used over prolonged periods, can “Seriously affect the molecular structure of welding that actually holds these skips together” Am I correct in believing the above? Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
